Our application for a car-free street has been approved!

On Thursday the 20th of May, Community Board 3 of Queens voted in favor of supporting the 78th street play street initiative. We are making 78th street between 34th avenue and Northern Boulevard a car-free street. This is a pilot project that will last two months and we believe it will be a great success.

We are very grateful to CB3, and all of the other individuals, groups and elected officials who have helped achieve this.

We would like to thank:

Danny Dromm
Julissa Ferreras
Jose Peralta
Joseph Crowley
Michael DenDekker

The Jackson Heights Beautification Group
Friends of Travers Park
Queens Community House

The Department of Transportation
The Department of Health

And all of our volunteers who have helped make the Play Street happen the past two years.

A special thanks has to go out to all of the people who came out to the meeting last night. The festive atmosphere you created buoyed everyone’s spirits and made the positive vote possible.

Stay tuned for more details on our plans for this year and the future!
