We’re excited to bring you a day of Jackson Heights fun on June 25th, starting around 1PM and going through until 8PM. We have partnered with the Queens Museum to bring these events to the 78th Street Plaza, as part of their Plaza Stroll Day.

There will be various community groups explaining what they are doing, how they can help you, and how you can get involved.The groups are:

Queens Bike
Council Member Daniel Dromm’s Office
Jackson Heights Parents for Public Schools
Queens World Film Festival
LGBT Network
New York City Department of Consumer Affairs
Jackson Heights Beautification Group

There will be food trucks, offering some local exciting dishes!

Local artist Deborah Wasserman will lead a collaborative workshop at 4PM.The workshop aims to create a map of Jackson Heights, highlighting individual and communal experiences of our neighborhood. Participants will draw buildings, trees, streets, stores, cars and pavements and add them to the large map. Children and adults are welcome!

Throughout the day artist Kevin Marín will be recording sounds and comments to play back later in the afternoon as a sound installation specific to the 78th Street Plaza.

Finally, there will be music! Starting at 5 we will have two bands playing. First up is Kominas, a Pakistani-American punk bank, followed by Jackson Heights’ own Sonic Power Pops!

Tuesday June 28th 7PM – Free Zumba!

Thursday June 30th 7PM – Free Yoga!

We enter our third year of offering free Yoga and Zumba on the 78th St Plaza along with our partners at Queens Community House, generously sponsored by Emblem Health.


The classes are scheduled as follows:

YOGA is on Saturdays at 9AM, and Thursdays at 7PM

ZUMBA is on Tuesdays at 7PM

Bring a mat if you can, but we will have some on hand in case you cannot.
